The executive committee in charge of developing and implementing the carbon-reduction plans for the whole of the San Francisco Bay Area met last Thursday in Oakland. With the wide-ranging impact of these plans, it is not surprising that there was an overflow crowd of Bay Area residents there to listen:
Targets for carbon reduction are set by the California State laws known as AB32 and SB375. These laws are intended to show that California is doing its part to lessen the effects of global warming on the environment.
It didn't go as expected, however. Commissioner Rebecca Kaplan started her speech with what liberals would think of as widely-accepted and unremarkable comments. She said: "we know that the oil is running out and the planet will not survive." Watch as the audience bursts out laughing:
