California 2010 Governor's race tightens

Because of term limits (also, he has worn out his welcome), Governor Schwarzenegger is not running for re-election as California Governor. The only major Democrat remaining in the race is former Governor Jerry Brown, son of former Governor Edmund G. Brown. Rasmussen tested, in a Nov. 17 survey of 500 likely voters, Brown's popularity against three candidates for the Republican nomination. Former e-Bay executive Meg Whitman runs even with Brown:

Meg Whitman (R)

41%

Jerry Brown (D)

41%

Some Other Candidate

3%

Not Sure

14%

State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner and Tom Campbell, an ex-congressman and former state finance director, both trail Jerry Brown:

2010 California Governor Race

Steve Poizner (R)

32%

Jerry Brown (D)

43%

Some Other Candidate

7%

Not Sure

18%

2010 California Governor Race

Tom Campbell (R)

33%

Jerry Brown (D)

42%

Some Other Candidate

6%

Not Sure

19%

Note that the "not sure" category is still large and that, since the survey was of a mere 500 voters, the statistical uncertainties are large.
